Steve Woollard

Chief Executive Officer | Physiotherapist (BPhysio, APAM)

Steve has over 20 years of experience treating clients with neurological injury, establishing what is now NeuroRehab Allied Health Network in 2005. He held a senior position at Ivanhoe Private Rehabilitation Hospital, prior to joining the Royal Hospital for Neuro-Disability in London where he led the brain injury unit physiotherapy team for two years. Steve has a keen interest in spasticity and tone management, for which he devised a new scale of measurement. Steve is qualified to prescribe the Saebo range of orthoses which assist clients to regain upper limb function, and is trained to prescribe, set up and educate clients in the use of WalkAide foot drop stimulator devices. With a special interest in bed positioning, Steve established Postural Innovations with Neurological Physiotherapist, Angela Rowe, in 2008, developing a range of postural support products tailored specifically to clients with neurological injury.

Dawn P.

Physiotherapist – Clinical Manager, APA Neurological Physiotherapist

Dawn is a UK trained physiotherapist with over 30 years of experience working with clients with neurological conditions in the UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Dawn completed a Master of Neurological Physiotherapy at Melbourne University and is a titled member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA). She has worked across hospital and community settings with clients of all ages. Dawn has been involved in researching the effects of strength training in people with Multiple Sclerosis and has published journal articles reporting the study results. Committed to providing clients with the opportunity to maximise their function Dawn is enthusiastic about providing additional therapy options as a Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner.

Physiotherapist – Team Leader

Sara completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne in 2008. Since then she has worked in roles across the private and public health systems in inpatient rehabilitation and communication rehabilitation with Monash Health and Austin Health, and has spent the past few years working with NeuroRehab Allied Health Network. Sara has experience working with clients following stroke, multiple sclerosis, acquired brain injury, movement disorders, polio, spinal cord injuries, as well as other progressive and chronic neurological conditions. She also has experience in rehabilitation after neurosurgery and orthopaedic conditions, with an interest in aquatic physiotherapy and Pilates. Sara is passionate about enabling her clients to achieve their goals, to maximise their function and to experience optimal quality of life. In her free time, Sara enjoys outdoor walks, hiking, dancing, group fitness classes, travelling and socialising with friends and family.

Bianca completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at The University of Melbourne in 2011. Since then, she has worked in various Melbourne public hospitals over a range of areas including inpatient and outpatient physiotherapy, as well as home based and community therapy. She has worked within rehabilitation for older people, and neurological settings seeing clients with stroke, Parkinson’s disease, vestibular dysfunction, dementia and cognitive impairment. Prior to working with NeuroRehab, Bianca worked in London in the NHS for a specialist Falls and Balance and Neurological Rehabilitation Team, completing home and community visits for those especially vulnerable. Bianca is also a member of the NeuroRehab OHS Committee and is enthusiastic about promoting workplace safety. Bianca says, “Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my dog, going travelling and I am a pop culture, movie and TV buff”.

Ezgi completed a Master of Physiotherapy in 2013. She has worked in various areas across public and private services in Melbourne, providing care for individuals in the home, community, and within acute and rehabilitation hospitals. She has experience working with a broad range of complex neurological and vestibular conditions. She is passionate about working together with her clients to achieve goals which are meaningful to them. Ezgi says, “Outside of work, I love to keep active playing netball, kick-boxing and practising all forms of yoga”.

Zoe has experience providing care across various public hospital settings including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation and community rehabilitation treating a wide range of neurological disorders. Zoe is passionate about working with clients to encourage their independence, make a difference in their lives and celebrate all the wins. She also gets inspired by trying out new activities with clients. Zoe says, “Outside of work you will likely find me running, baking sweet treats or spending time with family and friends.”

Simon completed a Doctor of Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne in 2015, following a Bachelor of Science in 2012. Simon has worked in various roles including aged care, musculoskeletal private practice, home-based rehabilitation and in transition care. In these roles he worked with individuals with a range of neurological conditions, including stroke, Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. He has experience working closely with clients with cognitive impairment and dementia. Simon has always had a passion for helping others achieve their goals and realise their potential. He enjoys using new and innovative technologies to support clients on their rehabilitation journey. He finds the resilience and determination of his clients inspirational, and it drives him to be a better physiotherapist. Simon loves snowboarding, has a keen interest in all things related to technology, and enjoys tinkering with the latest gadgets. Simon also speaks Cantonese.

Fiona completed a Bachelor of physiotherapy at the Australian Catholic University Brisbane in 2015. She has had various roles within large acute hospitals, rehabilitation, private practice and aged care. Within these roles she has been able to work with neurological conditions from the acute stages through to the rehabilitation and chronic stages. During her time as a physiotherapist, Fiona has completed courses for Parkinson’s, vestibular and Bobath. She has a large passion for helping her patients and striving to achieve their goals.

Angus has experience working in both public and private hospitals. Whilst initially choosing to do physiotherapy due to sports, Angus quickly became fascinated by the role Physiotherapists and all Allied Health Professionals play in neurological rehabilitation. Angus says, “Outside of work I love to keep active by running, and boundary umpiring footy during the winter. I also enjoy geography and learning about the world.”

Outside of work, Leanna loves spending time with family, friends and my pets (cat and bunny). She gained experience working with clients with dementia and cognitive impairment, persistent pain, musculoskeletal conditions, and sporting injuries prior to commencing work in the neurological field. Shivani has a passion for strength and conditioning and pushing clients to achieve their highest functional outcome. Shivani says, “I enjoy spending time outdoors with my Border Collie puppy, swimming, dancing, reading and wine tasting.”

Olivia completed a Master of Physiotherapy at LaTrobe University in 2021. She has completed placements in orthopaedic, aged care and musculoskeletal areas. Olivia completed a volunteer program ‘Challenges Abroad’ in Cambodia where she taught children about hygiene and health promotion, and adolescents about menstruation. Olivia says, “I have always had this sense to want to help others achieve their goals, and get better. It makes me happy to see small improvements in clients, and seeing how happy it makes them”.

Steph has worked in major hospitals across Victoria and the Northern Territory, providing therapy from the high acuity setting through to the community space. Steph has gained experience in neurological rehab, chronic disease management, dementia and aged care and Indigenous health. She has had extensive exposure to a wide range of neurological conditions and remains passionate about collaborating with clients to achieve the goals that are most meaningful to them.  Outside of work Steph loves getting out in nature with mates, hooning around with her dog, and catching the local gig scene.

With over 16 years of experience, Frances is well equipped as NeuroRehab’s Clinical Manager of OT. Frances has always been passionate about delivering individualised supports, and was a disability support worker while studying OT. After rotating through the Inpatient and Outpatient space of Health, she moved to supporting adults with disabilities in a range of clinical and management roles. Frances is passionate about facilitating opportunities for people to maximise their engagement and realisation of human rights through the use of assistive technology and positive attitudes towards dignity of risk. Outside of work, Frances enjoys singing and daggy dancing while cooking up a storm. Frances says, “I am steadfast and devoted to finding the win-win solution where the client achieving their goals is a win that is felt by all”.

Katie loves reading, travelling, and staying active. Katie says, “The best part of my job is collaborating with people to set and achieve their personal goals. I feel very lucky to work with clients on goals which are deeply meaningful to them, whether that is brushing their teeth, cooking a meal, or planning a holiday.”

Cindy completed a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Curtin University, Western Australia. She has worked across public and private settings, starting off at Royal Perth Hospital then at a private hospital in Malaysia. Having worked with clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Cindy has developed a deep passion for neurological rehabilitation. For her, Occupational Therapy is much more than a profession, it is also a means to help individuals achieve their goals and live a meaningful life. She speaks fluent Hokkien, English and Malay.

Courtney has worked in the private rehabilitation sector in New Zealand where she was working with a range of clients with sustained mental and physical injuries. Courtney is passionate about supporting clients to achieve their goals and adapting tasks and the environment to enable occupational engagement and satisfaction. Andrew has over 16 years experience in neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation and chronic disease management. He worked as a neurological exercise physiologist at Ivanhoe Private Rehabilitation Hospital for nine years and The Victorian Rehabilitation Centre for six years. He has extensive experience in community-based rehabilitation and health promotion, establishing an exercise physiology service for Healthscope Independence Services. Andrew’s areas of interest include acquired brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injury.

Lucas has completed a Master of Exercise Physiology at La Trobe University and a Bachelor of Exercise & Sports Science from Deakin University. Lucas has placement experience at the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Merri Health. Since beginning his studies in 2019, Lucas has applied his skills in oncology, cardiovascular and neurological settings for adolescent and adult populations. Lucas is eager to use his skills to enable those around him to become independent, confident, and achieve their goals. Lucas applies this mindset to his own exercise, competing as a professional runner at the Stawell Gift yearly and competing as a back-marker at professional meets. Lucas believes that an individual and tailored approach to exercise is best and aims to provide this to his clients. Outside of work, Lucas is an avid hiker who enjoys photography and identifying native orchids.

Aylish has a Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology from Deakin University (2022) which involved various clinical placements at the Northern Hospital, Epworth Healthcare and the Deakin Clinical Exercise Centre. Previously Aylish obtained her Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance and gained experience working at Epworth Healthcare in the subacute acquired brain injury unit and subacute orthopedic ward. Aylish has experience working with neurological clientele with a variety of conditions such as pediatrics, stroke, acquired and traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and spinal cord injuries. Aylish is extremely passionate about using movement and exercise to improve individual’s quality of life and subsequently achieve their goals. Outside of work, Aylish loves going to the gym, practicing handstands and reading.

Senior Allied Health Assistant

Alexandra has a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Our Lady of the Rosary University, Colombia. After completing her studies she worked in one of Columbia’s major rehabilitation centres as a Neurological Physiotherapist. Since Alexandra moved to Australia in 2006, she has continued her work in rehabilitation. Prior to joining NeuroRehab Allied Health Network she worked at the Alfred Hospital and Caulfield Medical Centre as a Grade 3 Allied Health Assistant for eight years. Alex is passionate about helping clients achieve their goals and improve their quality of life. She is also fluent in Spanish.

Maddison is currently studying a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. She was drawn to OT as she has an innate desire to help others and to do so through occupations which are meaningful. She loves the idea of providing a holistic approach to treatment that is shared with other health professionals. Maddi’s previous experience was working as an Applied Behaviour Analyst Therapist (ABA therapist) with autistic children. This is where she developed a strong interest in working with people with neurological conditions. Maddi says, “I volunteer at Interchange Eastern Volunteers Program with adults and children with various disabilities, and I like to spend time socialising with my friends, running, camping and reading.”

Melissa has worked for a number of years as a Remedial Massage Therapist in her own home business. Wanting to specialise in rehab, she joined the team at NeuroRehab Allied Health Network. Melissa enjoys outdoor activities and referees basketball. She also enjoys arts and craft, music and going to the gym. Melissa says, “I enjoy working with a range of people from all walks of life. I love seeing the improvements my clients make and I enjoy seeing the smiles and joy on my clients’ faces when they are able to do something they thought was near impossible.”

Tanya completed a Master of Speech Pathology at La Trobe University in 2014 and has since worked in a range of roles throughout the healthcare system including acute care and rehabilitation. Tanya spent 4 years working in an inpatient brain injury unit working with adults with acquired brain injury. She also has broad experience in adult neurological rehabilitation which includes stroke and Parkinson’s disease. She is trained in delivering Lee Silverman Voice Treatment and is competent in instrumental swallowing assessments (videofluoroscopy and fibreoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallow). Tanya is passionate about supporting clients to achieve their goals through patient-centred approaches as well as the incorporation of evidence-based practice. Outside of working Tanya loves to go walking, see her friends and curl up on the couch with her cat.

Monica has a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Master of Speech Pathology from La Trobe University. She has experience with assessment and intervention for children and adolescents with speech sound disorders, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia and social skill difficulties. Monica has also worked in schools, community and clinical settings and has been involved in running language and social skills groups. Monica has an interest in early intervention and progressive neurological conditions. She is passionate about supporting children and adults to achieve their goals and becoming active members of their community. Monica is also a certified member of Speech Pathology Australia and has completed training in Hanen – ‘It takes two to talk’, Lidcombe Program (paediatric stuttering), Smooth Speech Program (adult stuttering) and Sounds Write (literacy).

Katrina in a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist with Speech Pathology Australia. She works with both adult and children with disability in community-based settings. In particular Katrina has experience working with people and their families living with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. Katrina has developed a strong interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and social skills. Katrina says, “What makes me smile at work is broadening a client's ability to communicate clearly and more confidently with others (especially when it was not something they were doing before), whether it be through spoken language or other forms of communication. I also enjoy working with clients in their everyday, natural environments to achieve functional and meaningful goals.”

Sophie arrived in Australia from the UK in February 2023 and after traveling some of Australia, she is excited to live in Melbourne and expand her career working at NRAHN. Sophie has specialized in working with an adult caseload in both a Brain Injury rehabilitation unit and most recently an NHS hospital setting which included a rotation within the Early Stroke Discharge team. Sophie has experience assessing, diagnosing, and treating a range of communication and swallowing conditions including those with stroke, Traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative conditions and most recently working with patients in ICU. Outside of work Sophie enjoys CrossFit, Olympic weightlifting, travel, and all things outdoors including learning to surf.’

Zeke has experience working with adults with communication difficulties from long-term neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy or brain injury. He has a very friendly attitude and loves helping people achieve their communication goals. He is interested in bushwalking and is grateful for opportunities to expand his boundaries. Zeke says, “I am inspired by the NeuroRehab team and love to share ideas and learn from them. I am also inspired by the clients I work with and how they strive to achieve each day.”

Sarah has worked across a wide range of settings and programs in Public Health, for both Eastern Health and Caulfield Hospital. Her roles have included specialist clinics (Dementia and Memory Assessment, Complex Care, Hospital Admissions Risk Program), acute and sub-acute hospital wards (including Rehabilitation, Geriatric Evaluation and Management, Aged Psychiatry, Acquired Brain Injury unit and general hospital admissions) and outpatient programs (Community Rehabilitation, Child and Youth Mental Health). Sarah loves music, street art, swimming and playing with her two young children. She visits the beach and family in the country as often as possible and loves to walk outside in nature.

Katrina is currently completing a Master of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology) at the University of Melbourne. She is passionate about providing evidence-based support to individuals with a range of neurological conditions and hopes to grow her knowledge in Positive Behaviour Support. In addition to her specialist training in clinical neuropsychology, Katrina is involved in research exploring the efficacy of psychosocial support for older adults with depression. Katrina says, “My areas of particular interest include the intersection between mental health and neurology, early intervention for neurodegenerative conditions and the impacts of neurological injury on the developing brain”.

Aimee G.

Aimee undertook specialist Neuropsychology training within the public health system in Victoria and has worked within acute, subacute, and outpatient neurological, rehabilitative, and mental health settings. She works with adults with acquired brain injuries, and neurological or neurodegenerative disorders. She is passionate about cognitive rehabilitation and addressing the potential impact of neurological conditions on an individual’s psychological and social wellbeing. Outside of work, Aimee enjoys reading, walking her Corgi puppy, and spending time with family and friends. Aimee says “I love working collaboratively with clients and their families/support networks to help them develop ways to achieve their goals”.

Provisional Psychologist (MPPsych)

Nick has worked across a range of private practice settings, seeing clients with varying mental health concerns across the lifespan. Nick has also spent time volunteering in homelessness support, at-risk youth support, and in familial support services. He is committed to supporting his clients to achieve an improved quality of daily functioning, as well as improved emotional wellbeing. When not working as a Provisional Psychologist, Nick enjoys weight training as a powerlifter and keeping up to date with current motorsports. Nick says, "I aim to bring a new and fresh approach to therapy by where my clients can be motivated to achieve their goals."

Victoria has experience working in private practice and the public health system in New Zealand/Aotearoa. She has previously worked at Mental Health Services for Older Persons (MHSOP) in both the inpatient unit and the community team. She has also worked in private practice with individuals with injuries covered by the ACC. Victoria is passionate about all things which help maximise an individual’s quality of life! Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, hiking, and exploring Melbourne.

Novelyne has worked across a number of clinical settings including rehabilitation hospitals, paediatric, specialist schools and the disability sector. She has a special interest working in the areas of brain injury rehabilitation and early childhood intervention. Novelyne can speak English, Indonesian, Hokkien, and basic Korean. Novelyne says, “I am passionate about empowering clients to collaboratively achieve their maximum potential through music”.

Lucinda completed a Master of Music Therapy. She is a singer, songwriter, and has been a vocal coach for over 12 years. She has taught at the Melbourne Academy of Performing Arts and runs a singing school and studio. Lucinda is also in a band who performs for corporate events, birthdays, weddings, and other private and public events. Lucinda says, “Music is my life. What I find great about my job is that I am genuinely in my happy place. Music and helping people are a perfect pairing and I feel extremely lucky to share that with people whilst helping them achieve their health and wellbeing goals and build new skills.”

Daniella has worked within the private practice community to assist adults and children to achieve their nutrition goals whilst managing chronic disease. Daniella loves to empower people to make sustainable lifestyle changes in order to improve their overall health and wellbeing. She has found a great interest in neurological conditions and believes nutrition intervention in this area can not only improve health markers but helps improve quality of life and support independence.
