Introduction to Cognitive Stimulation Training (CST)

Attendees of the Intro to CST webinar will explore the evidence supporting CST for people living with dementia, identify the key principles and therapeutic approach, how CST sessions are delivered in practice, and the benefits in supporting cognition, communication and quality of life. Presented by Isobel Sanger, Senior Research Associate at the University of Canberra, and Master Trainer of CST.
Objectives
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
Describe the evidence base supporting CST for people living with dementia.
Identify the key principles and therapeutic approach underpinning CST.
Understand the structure and content of CST sessions and how they are delivered in practice.
Recognise the potential benefits of CST in supporting cognition, communication, and quality of life.
Presented by Isobel Sanger – Senior Research Associate at the University of Canberra and a Master Trainer in Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST)
Isobel is an experienced Occupational Therapist, currently working within the Specialist Memory and Dementia and Rapid Reablement Programs. She is passionate about enhancing dementia care and is committed to continuous quality improvement, striving to leave services in better shape than she finds them.
Isobel is an active contributor to the advancement of CST in Australia, presenting nationally and internationally. Her recent work includes a presentation at the CST International Conference in Hong Kong (June 2024), titled CST in Australia – Past, Present and Future, and contributions to presentations and posters focused on establishing a Cognitive Stimulation Therapy Community of Practice in Australia, including at the International Dementia Conference (Sydney, September 2024) and the Australian Association of Gerontology Conference (Hobart, November 2024).
