Description
The 15-day intensive Basic Bobath workshop will cover neurophysiology lectures on systems control, spasticity, neuroplasticity and more, as well as normal movement practical sessions. This series will cover all parts of the body: trunk, shoulder, hand, hips, feet and gait.
There will be patient demonstration treatments by tutors and treating clients in pairs under the guidance of tutors.
The course is accredited by the International Bobath Instructors Training Association (IBITA).
Please note
There is a single case design or essay component to be completed between the 2nd and 3rd week of the course.

Learning outcomes
Understand the principles of the Bobath Concept.
Understand current neurophysiology relevant to the application of the Bobath Concept.
Understand the range of normal movement and appreciate major causes of deviations of normal movement and posture.
Analyse movement in terms of efficiency and recognise potential causes for lack of efficiency.
Use enhanced observation, analytical and facilitation skills, acquired through the study of normal movement, to develop individual treatment strategies for patients with movement disorders.
Prerequisites
It is highly desirable to have completed the What is Normal Movement? workshop before undertaking the Basic Bobath workshop (ideally two or more workshops). Additional course information.
