The Ultimate MS Mobility Course

Description
This course covers the physiological challenges people living with MS face when trying to exercise. You will learn how to manage fatigue, neuromuscular fatigue, heat sensitivity, and temporary symptom exacerbation. More importantly, this course will provide you with practical gait rehab knowledge you can immediately incorporate into clinical practice.
Providing comprehensive teaching for all mobility levels, from the minimally impaired to those only able to walk a few steps with an aide. The education is delivered via a combination of lectures, group case study work and practical demonstrations.
Objectives
On completion of this course, attendees will be able to:
Provide safe exercise volume and intensity for people living with MS throughout the disease course;
Educate and support people living with MS to proactively manage fatigue, neuromuscular fatigue and heat sensitivity;
identify common gait impairments present in MS throughout the disease course;
Provide a range of practical treatment strategies to improve functional mobility;
Be confident in delivering rehabilitation from high functioning to assisted mobility;
Understand what causes knee hyperextension and how to treat it effectively;
Understand what causes foot drop and how to treat it effectively.
Prerequisites
All participants must complete the compulsory online webinar prior to attending the face-to-face course.
It is strongly recommended you complete the MS Get a Head Start health professional course prior to attending, but this is not compulsory.
You must hold a current health professional registration and insurance.
Who is the course for?
This course is most suitable for physiotherapists, occupational therapists and exercise physiologists.
While this course is focused on MS, the skills acquired can be applied to treating common gait impairments in neurological rehabilitation.

Gilly Davy is a consulting neurological physiotherapist passionate about the changing world of physical rehabilitation and exercise for Multiple Sclerosis.
The innovative MS Get a Head Start program has been the brain-child of Gilly’s since 2012. Gilly researched, trialled and developed the MS Get a Head Start program by pulling together a wide range of evidence-based approaches and combining the unique approach of interval training exercise, education and ultimate self management. The program was initially trialled at the Advance Rehab Centre in Sydney, where the outstanding results achieved gave Gilly the impetus to take the program further. In 2019 Gilly launched the program internationally.
Gilly believes this is the program those with MS and health professionals have been waiting for — an evidence-based, life-changing opportunity.
